Chiba: Winter Illumination at the Country Farm Tokyo German Village

10:14:00 PM

Just a couple of hours drive from Tokyo you can find the Tokyo German Village, an theme park that is inspired by.. You guessed it right; Germany of course. Don’t let the name of the park fool you though; this park is not really situated in Tokyo but on the Boso Peninsula, more precisely in a place called Sodegaura in Chiba. For those who didn't know, Chiba is Tokyo’s neighbouring prefecture to the east, and believe it or not this is also the prefecture where you can find Tokyo Disney Land...

Sightseeing in Chiba: Hiking Mt. Nokogiri (鋸山)

9:26:00 PM

Chiba Prefecture is one of the three prefectures surrounding Tokyo, along with Kanagawa (Yokohama) and Saitama. Although Chiba is most known for Narita airport and Disneyland (yes, it is in fact not situated in Tokyo despite the name) the prefecture also has a lot of other things to entertain its visitors such as beautiful beaches, great mountains for hiking and hot spring ryokan.

Sightseeing in Chiba: Kamogawa and Green Club Pension

11:47:00 AM
Surfers in Kamogawa
A couple of weeks ago I took a small weekend trip to Chiba along with my bf to enjoy the last gasp of summer. Although most people visit Chiba either to go to Narita airport or Tokyo Disneyland (Tokyo Disneyland is in fact situated in Chiba but I suppose Chiba Disneyland doesn't sound as attractive) the prefecture also has among other things some magnificent beaches, ideal for surfing and coastal walks. One of the places famous for its beaches is Kamogawa, which was the destination for our trip this time. We had decided to go there by car, but you can also easily get there by train (takes about 2 hours to get to the Awa-Kamogawa Station - 安房鴨川駅 - from Tokyo).
